Artist Statement

I create photographs that celebrate the timeless beauty of Africa's wildlife and landscapes. Working almost exclusively in black and white, I use light, shadow and composition to create atmosphere and a sense of place beyond the immediately visible.

Rather than documenting wildlife alone, I look for moments of quiet connection between a subject and its environment: an elephant emerging from dust, a solitary tree beneath Namibia's granite peaks, or a lion standing in fading light.

These encounters are often fleeting, but the photographs are intended to transcend the moment in which they were made. Through the reduction of the image to light, form and tone, I seek to create photographs that invite contemplation and express something of the intrinsic relationship between Africa's wildlife and the landscapes they inhabit.
