From the artist

Memories of Childhood is an exploration of the vivid, chaotic and fragmented nature of childhood memory. Rather than depicting particular moments, I wanted to evoke the way memories can exist as flashes of colour, movement, emotion and sensation: overlapping, disappearing and resurfacing without following any particular order.

The vibrant colours and energetic marks reflect the intensity of seeing the world through a child’s eyes, when everything can feel immediate, mysterious and full of possibility. There is a sense of disorder in the painting, but also joy and freedom.
