From the artist
This painting belongs to a series of paintings on leftover pieces of canvas that have been stitched together. The body of work looks at the intersection of man-made objects in a green space.
The stitched canvas is about re-using, making do with what is available, materials and the crossover of textiles and paint. Astroturf is plastic grass, ubiquitous in parks and playgrounds.
I would like the viewer to be reminded of a natural environment and how plastic is encroaching our natural world.
