Bio

Chris Daly is a South African photographer with a particular passion for landscape and nature photography. His interest in photography began in his teens, working with film and developing his own prints in a makeshift darkroom, before returning seriously to the medium with the emergence of digital photography.

A long-standing member of the Photographic Society of South Africa (PSSA), Chris is a recognised photographic judge and previously served on the PSSA Honours Panel and as Director of the Garden Route Region. He has participated in numerous national and international photographic salons and led workshops for photographers across the Western Cape.

His work reflects a lifelong fascination with photography and a deep appreciation for landscape, light and the natural world.

Artist Statement

My landscape photography is rooted in the diverse environments of South Africa, particularly the Garden Route where I have lived and photographed for many years. I am drawn to the changing character of this landscape: its forests, mountains, coastline and open spaces, and to the way light and weather continually alter our experience of familiar places.

Photography encourages me to look more closely at the natural world and to return to places repeatedly, discovering how differently they can reveal themselves. Through my work, I hope to share something of the scale, beauty and distinctive character of the South African landscape.
